what is activated carbon?
Activated carbon, or activated charcoal, is inert and extremely porous carbon. It has a high adsorption capacity (not to be confused with adsorption) and is used for the purification of liquids and gases, as impurities stick to its surface.
Adsorption is a process that consists of the retention on the surface of a solid (activated carbon) of molecules in solution in a liquid.
